c. What is plain language writing for the web and in detail and in your own words, why is it important? (4 Marks) 

As marketers we need to utilize all methods of communication to get our audience to take action. As stated in class, more people in the world own a cellphone instead of a toothbrush. While this statistic might be sociologically alarming, we should understand what this stat tells us. The majority of the population is on the web. Each individual person has their own beliefs, interests, and backgrounds. But just because everyone is on the web does not mean they will understand what our message is. This is where plain language writing comes into effect for the web. Every piece of literature that we write online needs to be clear and offers some type of information that is relevant to the searcher. But even if our audience understands our message, we are not promised that they will read all the information we are providing. With Plain language writing for web we can summarize what we are trying to say. This will save the reader time and increase the chance of them taking action with our company. We want our audience to fully and completely understand us. If we can’t successfully do this then we aren’t doing our jobs as marketers correctly.
